ShareWare
Spotlight
by Tony Curro
This month we take a look at some programs from Starlite Software.
Whoop It Up! V3.0 and Movie Time screen saver, are for MS Windows.
There are shareware versions of both products on many BBSs. You can
order a CD-ROM through the mail that contains AVI files, and a
runtime version of MS Video for Windows.
Whoop It Up adds additional events to the Windows environment. You
can have sound and/or video for any application, event or icon.
Whoop It Up does not change either your WIN.INI or SYSTEM.INI file.
It creates WHOOP.INI, and places the file in your Windows directory.
If you do not have a copy of Video for Windows, you simply install
the run-time version that comes on the CD-ROM. The Whoop It Up
manual, of 8 pages, comes on disk in MS Write format.
Movie Time is a slide-show type screen saver. It will play: AVI,
GIF, PCX and BMP files as screen savers. It will cycle through a
directory that you designate, and play all files with the above
extensions. The CD-ROM contains over 100 AVI files for use with both
Movie Time and Whoop It Up. Select from: comedy, science fiction,
cartoons, drama, movie trailers and more. There is something for
everyone on the CD-ROM.
Both programs will use: PC speaker, Sound Blaster, Pro Audio
Spectrum, Adlib or any MIDI or WAV device supported by Windows. You
must have Windows configured for WAV or MIDI sound device to use
Whoop It Up.
I found both programs a refreshing change, and a nice addition to
Windows. Look for them on a BBS near you.
